Ideal Temperature
Ideal Temperature
Just like the conditions they enjoy in their native forests, Monstera plants love mild temperatures and humid environments. The room temperatures in our homes are ideal for most indoor plants, including Monstera plants.
The only special care we should take is to avoid the plants from getting cold drafts. Monstera deliciosa is sensitive to low temperatures and sudden changes in air temperature can be too much of a shock for them.
Watering
Watering
Watering your Monstera is a delicate balance. The plant likes moist, but not soggy soil. Ideally, water when the top of the soil feels dry to the touch. This usually means watering once a week, but adjust as needed for the conditions of your home planting site.
Light
Light
The ideal place for these plants is to have plenty of light, without direct sunlight. In their natural habitat, Monstera grows in the shady lower floors of dense tropical forests. Therefore, especially young plants, tolerate conditions with little available light well. However, as they grow, they will need more light, otherwise their growth rate will be much slower.
If the leaves of your Adam's Rib begin to turn yellow, it could be a sign that the plant is in a place in the house that is too shady.
Soil
Soil
Use a well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Special houseplant mixes or the addition of perlite and pine bark can help increase drainage and aeration of the soil, ensuring that the mix is good for your Monstera.
